The Fundación para la Investigación Agraria en la Provincia de Almería (FIAPA) (Foundation for Agricultural Research in the Province of Almeria) came into existence, at the request of the Consejería de Agricultura y Pesca de la Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries), by resolution of the "Consejo de Gobierno" of the Andalusian Government of 3rd February, 1988. It is registered in the Register of Foundations as private teaching foundation of public interest in virtue of the Statutory Order of 24th May, 1989 (Official Gazette of the Andalusian Government "BOJA" of 6th June, 1989) decreed by the Consejería de Educación y Ciencia (Andalusian Ministry of Education and Science).
