It was located between the streets of Preciados, Carmen and Rompelanzas. In 1934, Mr. Ramón Areces Rodríguez, founder of El Corte Inglés, S.A., bought the tailor's shop, made it a private limited company and began his business career. Following the Spanish Civil War in 1939, a new phase began, representing the first progressive development of what today is Grupo El Corte Inglés. Property was acquired at number 3, Calle Preciados at the corner of Tetuán, of which the ground, first and part of the second floor were dedicated to sales. On 24 June 1940 the company became a public limited company. There were a total of seven employees.
