Midway between Santander and Gijon, on the Costa Verde on Spain's northern coast, Ribadesella is a beautiful fishing village and portn. The town is well known for the Descenso del Sella, which is an international canoe race held on the river each August. You can rent canoes, and do it yourself or take a tour down the river.

Behind the town are the craggy and mountainous Picos de Europa. The Picos are a national treasure, and great for trekking, walking, viewing wild animals and birdwatching. Or you could simply take in the breathtaking, stunning scenery.
