Midway between Santander and Gijon, on the Costa Verde on Spain's northern coast, Ribadesella is a beautiful fishing village and portn. The town is well known for the Descenso del Sella, which is an international canoe race held on the river each August. You can rent canoes, and do it yourself or take a tour down the river.

Behind the town are the craggy and mountainous Picos de Europa. The Picos are a national treasure, and great for trekking, walking, viewing wild animals and birdwatching. Or you could simply take in the breathtaking, stunning scenery.

The Salmonera Hotel is located in Cangas de Onís, on the Sella river. It is a comfortable, small hotel, and is ideal for spending a quiet weekend.

The hotel's name comes from the Salmonera, which is the Spanish name for the salmon nets which are used in the Sella River, where trout and salmon can be found.

La Llosica is a traditional 'panera' - a granary. It has been converted into a charming holiday home, and is surrounded by a large and well cared for garden with a number of fruit trees. The total property area is about three thousand seven hundred square metres, or just under an acre. La Llosica is located ten minutes away from Gijon, which is a very popular summer resort, which has plenty of shops, restaurants, museums and a busy night-life.

Some of the most beautiful rural scenery in the whole of Spain can be found in Asturias. Not only the spectacular snow topped mountains, such as the Picos de Europa, but also the rolling foothills, deep valleys, and an outstanding coastline. Much of the area is protected landscape.

Situated on the north of the Iberian Peninsula, it is bounded to the north side by the Atlantic coast, and to the south by the majestic Cantabrian mountains.

The Picos de Europa are probably the best known mountain range of the area, but there are many other mountain ranges of outstanding beauty. The unspoilt Ponga mountain range to the west of the Picos de Europa, and the much smaller Sueve mountains close to the sea, where the famous Asturcon ponies still roam freely.

This is a Indiano style house, which was built at the beginning of twentieth century. It was completely restored in 1996, and was adapted in 2007 for rural tourism. With its original chestnut wood and stone structure, which was retained during the recent restoration, to offer a pleasant stay, this rural house is the ideal place to enjoy some days of true relaxation.

Cartavio, -(Cartayo, Cartabio) - is a village half way between the rivers Navia and Porcia. For many years, it was the most important town in the area. Its origin is not known from any of the ancient documents, so stories about it's beginning are mainly guesswork. According to Latin and Greek texts, the River Navia area was inhabited by the Albions, and Porcia was inhabited by the Cibarcos, Galician tribes both of which, no doubt, are of Celtic origin.
