MIJAS TO CELEBRATE ITS TRADITIONAL INTERNATIONAL CHRISTMAS CONCERTS from the 29th November & 12th December
The Foreigners Department of the Mijas Town Hall will be organising their popular and traditional INTERNATIONAL CHRISTMAS CONCERTS in LaCala of Mijas Costa on the 29th of November at 5PM and in The Town Hall in Mijas Village on the 12th of December at 7PM. The department have been
organising the International Christmas Concert since 1985, nearly 30 years!
“When we first started organising this concert, it was the only one of its kind in
Malaga, and foreigners who had decided to stay in Spain for the Christmas period,
would come from all over the province to feel the Christmas Spirit” commented Ana
Skou, Coordinator of the Mijas Foreigners Department.
The first concert will be held on the first day of the International Christmas Fair that
will be held in La Cala of Mijas Costa from the 29th of November to the 14th of
December, where a Christmas wooden village will be put up with a giant fur tree,
selling all sorts of international Christmas goodies.
The International Music Society, best known as the TIMS Choir will be offering a
beautiful programme of Christmas Classics and sing along, at the Theatre inside the La
Cala Town Hall on the 29th of November at 5PM.
The Tapas Choir will be offering a varied programme of modern and classic
Christmas Carols on the 12th of December at the gorgeous setting of the Mijas Town
Hall in Mijas village at 7PM.
At both concerts, the Foreigners Department will be giving a free Christmas drink and
Spanish Christmas cakes to all the participants to toast to a Happy Christmas and a
Better New Year.
Mario Bravo Councillor of the FRD added “Activities such as the International
Christmas Concerts or the International Christmas Fair of La Cala, contribute to
integration, as foreigners as well as Spaniards discover and enjoy customs and
traditions of different countries”
The Department have also included in their Christmas programme a trip to Malaga to
see the spectacular Christmas illuminations and to enjoy a beautiful concert “Carmina
Burana and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony” at the Cervantes Theatre.
